Ray Mears and Ewan McGegor Take On Honduras

Survival expert Ray Mears may not be too well known here in the states but in the UK, I believe, he is somewhat a household name.  I first learned about him back in 2005 when I was looking through the May copy of Land Rover World.  In it he was testing the new Discovery 3 (LR3 here in North America).  In the following years his name would reappear in my life, particularly when I was watching Top Gear on BBC America and Jeremy Clarkson mentioned his name in oddly enough a LR3 segment when he tries to climb a Scottish mountain in the Rover.

I was searching youtube the other day and found a show that he did with Ewan McGegor back in 2001 which is before his Long Way Round trip. Ray takes Ewan on an adventure to the jungles of Honduras on the trail of a prehistoric people of the Mosquito Coast.  Its quite an adventure and fun to watch.  In a previous post, I had mentioned that of all the actors out there, McGegor is probably the only one I actually like and respect, most others seem like pompous fools.  Watching this show only reinforces my regard for him.  He seems to have a real sense of adventure and a good attitude even in the face of horrible circumstances he smiles and laughs it off as best he can.  He doesnt complain incessantly or act like a prima donna.  He takes it as it comes and tries his best to make the most out of it.  I respect that and that is the type of person I wouldnt mind want sharing a campsite or being in a tough spot with.

I only wish we could put all those douche bag good-for-nothing celebrities in the same situation.  Can you imagine how the worthless celebrities like Ryan Seacrest or Kim Kardashian or name any other would have behaved or even survived?  Now that may be an entertaining show but for other reasons.
